Franz Beckenbauer
Franz Beckenbauer joined the Cosmos in 1977 as the captain of the reigning world champions and the reigning European Footballer of the Year. He was NASL MVP that first season and won three titles in four years, left for two seasons at Hamburg, then came back for one more year in 1983.
