The most important news in American soccer right now is that USA Women, the World Cup Champions, refused to play a game on Saturday in Hawaii because the field they were being asked to perform on was a joke, and US Soccer never sent anyone to check it out before they booked the game. Pathetic. -The team wrote this article explaining their actions, for the Players Tribune. -This is the notice US Soccer published about the cancellation. -To make matters worse Megan Rapinoe blew out her knee on a poor training field the day before the game. -The fact that top level women's soccer is played on fake turf at all pisses me off more than these words can show. And women are forced to play on this garbage all the time. -The best that can be said of this particular situation is that US Soccer did not fight the team when it came to actually canceling the game.
