TRAILER dN The North American Soccer League says they are fighting for the lives or their teams and league, and have sued the US Soccer federation saying the Fed has no authority to set qualifications for divisions. This all started late in summer when USSF demoted the NASL from Div 2 to Div 3. On Saturday a federal judge denied the NASL request to maintain Div 2 status. On Sun NASL filed an appeal. This could drag on. I support the idea of the NASL as an independent, almost rebel, voice in American soccer. (We need as much of that as we can find.) But from the start they have been poorly run, had ulterior motives, and acted in a very arrogant fashion. Oof, oof and oof.
