What's Up Dude News

Frankly this news stuns me: MLS has suspended New England midfielder Shalrie Joseph for the next playoff game against Chicago. He is being punished for an elbow to the Fire's Ivan Guerrero. I was at the game and saw it go down. It actually happened twice. The second time Joseph was yellow carded. I even went and watched the plays on the DVR when I got home. Yes it was a yellow card. But a suspension? Are you nuts!!!! If the league wants to crack down on this type of play go ahead and implement it from game 1 next season, but you can't start now, there's no precedent for that. It's horrible. And they better hope there are not big repercussions. Everyone seems outraged by this one. Thanks to Chris for the heads up.~ ~ ~ ~Boston Globe and Soccernet reporter Frank Dell'apa chimes in on the suspension.~ ~ ~ ~More excellent DC United fan bus trip stories from Dan Steinberg's DC Sports Blog at the Washington Post.
